happy birthday, breezy!

happy birthday to a good friend….

look how happy she is!! Her smile can brighten the whole world!! she had a great birthday celebration last night. sorrie, i couldnt be there! Those that are wondering how to make a birthday unforgettable, please visit the link. ahaha!

As a tradition of the ‘cooking group’, we made special dinner for the birthday girl. We started to cook at 3 or 3.30 til 6.30pm. Stood the whole time and now, feeling that my leg has over worked. I am thinking, maybe next time in the operating room, maybe need to stand so long, so, a good training.

Back to the birthday celebration story. In any special occaion, there will be special dish. This time, it’s the meat wrapped in cabbage dish. It’s something I thought of but of course, like always, it didnt turn out the way I imagined it to be but it is nice. Firstly, need to steam the chinese cabbage so it’s soft but cannot over steam it! Then, take the minced meat mixture and wrapped it up, carefully. Then put to steam for 10-15 minutes. Next is to make the sauce. Since the minced meat mixture is a bit salty to taste, the sauce need to be sweet. Pour the souce onto the plate with the nicely arranged meat wrapped in cabbage, and it’s ready to be served!

Next, it’s the roasted chicken. We used this really cool Maggie packet. Very yummy. It almost taste like those roasted chicken you buy from the shop in Msia. If you make it correctly, it might even taste like roasted duck! In this case, we had chicken wings and drumstick and also some potatoes. It turned out really nice!! The potatoes were just right, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Because it was baked with the special plastic, the moisture from the potatoes was kept, tat it was it was juicy!

Next, a special salad. The second special dish for tonight - tomato, cucumber, cabbage and some roasted bread. Mixed together with some lemon juice, salt and pepper. It’s ready to be served. Just got to make sure the tomatos are fresh and the cucumber too! It’ll be nicer is there is lettuce but it cant be found here so we used cabbage. And since we are not used to eating it raw, we sort of steamed it first. Haha…and we were suppose to add olive oil but it’s too expensive to buy so, just lemon juice. Half a lemon. Very yummy. It’ll be great to add some feta-cheese, but it’ll be greek salad. So, here is a chinese way of preparing salad!

Then we have sambal egg - something we always have because we dont know how to prepare egg. We cant just eat it hard boiled? So, made sambal to go with it. Then there was chicken and vege kurma. Very nice! I can proudly say, I can cook Indian style Kurma. Learnt it from an Indian friend. She taught me and it really tasted so much nicer than the maggie packets that I bought!

I also made 2 BIG pot of crysenthemum tea, and I stil have a big jar left in the fridge. Yummy! It has been a long time since i made it. I used to love making it but now, less free. Haha…but must make it specially for Niny!

After that we had Apple Crisps. Very nice. Hope I learn how to make and I want to go home and make for mommy and daddy! ^^

summer plans

i have a feeling this summer is going to be really fun. not because it is going to be my last summer, because after this summer, next year, it’ll be summer all year thru..ok, confusing? well, long story short, i’ll be graduating soon, in 64 weeks. Approximately there. Maybe a week earlier or later.

Anyway, I thought I am the only one planing for summer, going to places and seeing people, until I chat with my yiyi, I found out, my cousins are going to be travelling too!

An uncertain yet great new, I might be staying over a few days in London before going back home. Yay, which means I can visit the London Tower Bridge and some other places that I didn’t manage to go. Keeping my fingers cross!

Then, will be expecting Jas to come over from NZ. Visiting Xuan for a weekend in the first week of July. Maybe going to genting if the parents allow. Hahaha.., then the Ting’s coming over at the end of July.

The August - the Olympic month!
