The guys…From left standing - Chocky, Bennedict and Sitting - Lawrence (CG Leader)

The girls….Jo and YewChing

Niny and I

It was decided, that Sunday, we’ll have an outing! Firstly, it’s prayer walk.. but the temperature was -6 or -7. Cold!

But we manage to pray for the town, for God’s love to be poured onto His people!

Next stop - Chong’s Sushi House. [ I gave that name myself, it's actually called something else but I can't remember what].

The menu

We ate

and ate

and ate

Till everything was gone…

Yummy!

The food was ok, but the fellowship was great. We had a chance to get to know each other more…..

muffins attack!

I feel so bad, not being able to go online to blog since Saturday, and to chat with my precious family members…

It’s all because there was a MUFFIN ATTACK!!!!

Haha…..last year, we had gingerbread man as our Christmas Project. The year before, it was Choc cookies. In this project, the church members will bake [according to the theme of the year], and send it to those that ordered to be delivered to their friends. Normally, we would made up to 800 sets.

This year, is no different - our poject this year was - Muffins. Christmas muffins - 3 flavours in a box representing Faith, Hope and Love. With 1 Corinthians 13:13 as the theme.

The baking begins on Sunday - we managed 100 sets [meaning 300 muffins was baked].

Then, continued on Monday, Tuesday and finally Wednesday!

All in all, my hostel managed to bake 258 sets! Mixing, baking, packing…

But it’s all worth it because it’s….

Christmas!

Praise God for my baking team - Niny, Jo, Swit, Mervyn and Michelle. But lots of thanks to Niny and Jo. Without them, I dont think I can manage…

I dont think there will be any baking for me…for a long long time………

friday food

Opps…totaly forgot to load the pictures for my last friday’s special dinner. As usual, we do cook something out of the ordinary on friday. It’s been the best so far in this semester. Even though it might look ’simple’ but it’s not at all simple! My roomie got the idea from the series - 東山飄雨西關晴 (When Easterly Showers Fall on the Sunny West).

It’s a very nice series, also commerade to TVB’s 41th Anniversary. Anyway, the girl inside, Charmine Sheh, sells porridge. And in the series, the porridge looks really yummy, so my roomie got the idea and wanted to make porridge for dinner. Yay! Of course I’m into it, since it’s something new.

We went to buy the main ingredients - fish. It’s not really as simple as boiling the rice into porridge. Firstly, we stir fry the fish and mashed it, then put into the rice with carrot and ginger. Ginger is to remove the fishy smell. Then put to boil in ‘porridge’ mode.

Next, this is the best part, fry the remaining fish - like ‘fish fillet’ or ‘fish and chips ’style. Yummy! Using some Kentucky flour - wow…turned out so well!

There you have it! Fish porridge. The fishy smell is gone because of the ginger, and with the ginger added, it tasted so much more fresh! Yummy!!!!

Yesterday (boring)…..it’s my turn to think of something to make. Seriously, I have no idea, till the last moment….but I had a picture in mine…

This is what it turned out to be! The white thing is the source - chicken and mushroom white source with brocolli. Baked.

p/s I am so happy, I received a few comments on my previous post! thank you so much, my dear readers!

Happy weekend!!

till next time…

mid-week

It’s Wednesday, mark the day that Peds Surgery ends. Tomorrow we’re starting a really cool subject - Forensic Medicine. Yea…. CSI, Bones, Forensic Heroes!
How is everything? it’s been great….finally manage to upload the pictures of ’special cooking’ for last friday.

We had kolo-mee style of mee with a touch of tomatoes and carrots.

Then, papadam. What is it? Well, it’s something really foreign for Sarawakians and most West Malaysians are amazed how much Sarawakians love this! It’s an Indian food but does not restrict to Indian only, practically everyone in West Malaysia knows about this. it’s something like keropok but you’re supposed to eat with curry or other Indian food. It’s amazing!! It’s so easy to fry, it comes in a packs, flat keropok and then you fry them. Yummy!!! Papadam.

Next, it’s fried chicken wings. Cool isnt it. It makes a big difference when you add breadcrumps to go with the chicken before frying. Makes it looks like KFC and tastes really crispy!

Manage to watch The Gem of Life till episode 27. A very nice, exciting series from TVB. Anyone out there following it? It’s one of the longest running drama with 80 episodes and still airing now. Thanks to the students living in apartments that has unlimited internet, we have the privilage to enjoy very up to date series here! grin:

the gem of life

Also read the draft for Midnight Sun. Still waiting for the links to download Twilight. No one here seems to be expecting the movie except for Breezy and I. Haha..been discussing about the book and movie for a week!

I wont forget - a very good friend’s birthday today, Dec 3rd….

Happy Birthday, Steph!

wish you to have very blessed year ahead! may the Lord give you grace and strength to face the things in life and make you strong!

Wolves

Son : I wanna be Wolverine the superhero. He’s so cool!
Father : Aha, I’ve got a story for you! In every person, there are 2 wolves and they
are constantly fighting!

Wolf 1 : anger, jealousy, pride, condemnation, depression, low-self esteem,
lies, chaos, manipulation, lust, unforgiveness, superficial, fear,
you name it..anything’s negative
Wolf 2 : Peace, patience, love, hope, authentic, courage, purity, joy,
basically anything positive…

Son : Wow, a battle!! Which one wins dad??
Father : Well, the one you FEED..

Wow, it’s such a simple illustration but yet carries such great revelation in it! I read it in one of my best friend’s blog. And God reminded me again of His great love for us, His creations.

In each one of us, there are 2 wolves. One is our flesh that carries all those anger, jealousy, pride, condemnation, depression, sin, etc….and another is the Spirit of God that is in us that is full of love, grace, patience, love, courage, joy. In the bible it says, that if you do not want to reap the corruption of the flesh, then walk in the Spirit. Walk in love, and in joy and peace.
If you do not want to be so nasty, full of anger, then do not feed it. Instead, learn to care and love, learn to forgive and be gracious.

Currently having Pediatric Sugery cycle.

Till next time,

friday’s blues

Friday’s blues. I feel that Fridays are the days people look forward to. Right? Well coz it’s weekend soon. Anyway, here’s the pictures that I was supposed to post up early this week.

Firstly, pictures from First Snow.

Ok, it began when I was on the bus to class, very small snow outside the bus. But it the snowflakes got larger was we were studying in class.

Can you see? Erm, kinda too blur..aha..

Ok, this one should be clearer in some ways. Those were the closest I could get. It’s hard to get snowflakes pictures..just like it’s hard to take pictures of raindrops. You’ll need special camera skills and of course a better camera! Next, I want to show some pictures of the class and my groupmates studying…or were they really studying? Of course we were!

Yes, very rajin, discussing about….the topic of the day!

Reading from notes, finding the answers…

Here’s more complete picture of the group - we’re very rajin d!

Next up, pictures taken yesterday, when it snowed the night before, giving a white feeling in the morning. The pic above, outside the hostel’s backdoor.

This pic is as we were walking to the bus stop. Dont look as if it’s so nice, and white, actually, it was freezing cold and muddy because the snow was starting to melt making it wet and muddy.

This pic, taken on the way walking towards the hospital. It was a very cold day! But today, the weather totally change 180 degrees. No more snow on the gound, no more ice, no more coldness. Temperature was about 5 degrees. Just nice.

Now, today, as usual, Friday is the day there’ll be special cooking for dinner. No particular reason, just want to enjoy the meal more. So, KL and I decided to make chicken rice. Yup - it was a success!

more cooking

Ok, this is already a very late post that I was supposed to blog long ago but always was lazy to get the pictures from the camera. Finally, yesterday, I upload the pictures and here it is. It’s another great moment of my ‘cooking group’ as we gather together to cook something special for our friend, Ik’s birthday. Also, a good reason for cooking good and quality food. We started around 3pm and finished cooking by 6. Amazing! But we manage to prepare 5 dishes.

The theme was Fried Food but of course if it’s only fried stuff, it’ll be heaty. So some fresh veges and salad we added.

So, firstly, salad. A very special and our great production, it’s 4 layer salad which consist of bigroot on the top (really sweet), then a layer of sliced carrot, crabmeat and egg with mayo in the middle, and finally potato at the bottom. Very sweet and healthy!

Next up, is chicken - I tried to make KFC Spicy chicken but no matter how much chili powder I marinated it with, it didnt taste a bit spicy at all. I wonder what went wrong! This is my first time tying this recipe using breadcrumbs, egg and kentucky powder. Not bad, really tasty except no spicy taste. But I love it!

Then we have another special - deep fried cauliflower and bringal coated with kentucky powder, breadcrumbs and egg.

Next, we have another spicy dish - egg sambal! One of our cooking group favourite. Easy to make and there is egg! My favourite!

Finally, a vege to cool us down…mix vege with mushroom and celery. Super tasty. And definately my favourite too! I love vegies..and celery, and mushroom. Yummy!!!

Of course, a birthday celebration cannot be without the cake! A special chocolate banana cake that we ordered from a friend. Super delicious!

A slice…it’s actually chocolate cake with bananas at the middle but it’s really one of the best choc cake I’ve tasted. Not too sweet, just perfect.

Sometimes I wonder the reason we want to cook for a special occasion. It’s most of the a reason to cook special dishes and something out of the ordinary stuff that we cook everyday. And also something of my own favourite. The next event..maybe New Year?
